L'Ultimo Stop

“L’ultimo stop” is the beginning of a broader project on the subject of assisted suicide and the reasons for this choice addressed from different points of observation as different are the positions on such a delicate issue.

The multiplicity of positions on the subject, depending on the experiences and sensitivities of individuals, will be expanded and deepened and will be addressed with respect following the stylistic hallmark of L'Ultimo Stop.
Massimo Ivan Falsetta's work will be presented in the most important European and international film festivals.

L’ultimo stop is a bold but decidedly valid project and Ipazia Production has been able to look at the theme of assisted suicide with a delicacy and elegance that certainly does not go unnoticed

Nicodemo Prosa is a director in his sixties, seriously ill and not self-sufficient. Losing his self-esteem, he decides to go to Switzerland to leave this earthly life. In the clinic, involving the medical staff, he directs his last scene. The most important.

“L’ultimo stop” isn't an easy short film. It deals with a theme of conscience, sweet death, which does not allow for a second chance: once you have taken that road, there is no going back. And yet, despite the multitude of readings of it, the urgency I had to tell was disruptive, indispensable. We need to talk about assisted suicide but bringing it back to the essence of experience, to the dryness of personal decisions free from sentimentality that would cloud our ability to understand.
If we were suffering, if we were no longer self-sufficient, if a loved one wasn't, how would we behave? What would we do? What would we like to be able to do that today we are not allowed?

Far from any prejudice or ideological alignment, I wanted a story that spoke to everyone's heart and mind, without distinction. An engaging and original story, which could make assisted suicide more understandable, the first legal frontier to address the broader issue of euthanasia.
The last stop is a fictional short as it has no biographical references or episodes related to recent news, even if what happens in the world is a natural source of inspiration for me. But this work is above all the result of a preliminary research aimed, in the first place, at seeking the profound reasons for a choice. The choice to end one's existence.
